We loved Kidepo, but whether "it was worth it" is very subjective. For us, 100% worth it. But if you're going soley by which animals and how many you will see...hard to say, probably you'll see everything, and maybe more, at Murchison. That said, Kidepo offers what other parks don't have: sweeping vistas and overall scenic beauty, wonderful campsites that you will probably be alone at. Campsites have great views. Remote and few other visitors, meaning all sightings are likely yours alone, but you also need to work for them yourself. But it's a solid full day drive from the north end of Murchison, or some break it up into two days. Up to you.

For Gorillas - it was no problem for us to book only shortly before going, so I think you'd be okay booking your flights and trip first, then fitting in Gorillas where it makes sense.

Good morning. We are heading to Uganda and Rwanda very soon. We are hoping to rent a 4x4 in Uganda with rooftop tent. We did the same in Botswana, Zambia and Namiba. We are thinking of heading to Kidepo Valley. Do you think it is worth thr drive up there or will we see just as many neat animals and birds in other parks further south. (We have been to Northern Sudan a few years ago.. Brilliant... but not safari) Just trying to make sure we do the best drive for us. Gorillas and primates are the main focus. End of Nov and beginning of December 2025. Hoping to secure tickets for Gorillas ourselves. So confusing as not sure if to grab those 1st, or room 1st or plane tickets 1st. having a very hard time. Hoping we can camp also near Bwindi
Thank you

Thanks Andrew! I've been sending lots of emails to UWA, but no answer. We will see next week once we arrive there. Zambia and Namibia sounds like our next destination after Uganda!

Hi! Thanks for your comment. Sorry for the late response; we were in Zambia and Namibia. I'll send you an email, but the short answer is there is no booking system at MFNP, you'll almost certainly find all sites available when you show up.

Hello, we would love to repeat our experience in a bush camp in Masai Mara or Serengeti. Reading your post, I see you reserved a privat camspite bush in Murchison Falls. We will reach the park in a couple of weeks. How did you make the reservation and which camps are available?
looking forward for your feedback.
